Reifenstein castle | Campo di Trens

How to reach Reifenstein castle

Southwest of Vipiteno is Reifenstein Castle on a small rocky outcrop. The castle, which was never destroyed or conquered, is one of the best preserved castles in South Tyrol. Today the castle can be visited from April to early November as part of a guided tour.
In the outer castle at the northern end of the castle complex you can still see a (renewed) portcullis, loopholes and windows as well as battlements. A bridge from the Middle Ages crosses the moat that separates the outer castle from the main castle. While the northern end of the castle, which is more accessible for enemies, was very well protected, there is only a simple ring wall at the southern end. Near the castle there is also the 14th century church of St. Zeno, which cannot be visited.
In the castle you can still see the original medieval rooms, such as the castle kitchen, wooden bunk beds from the 12th century and a bathroom. Particularly beautiful is the so-called Green Hall, whose green walls are decorated with magnificent frescoes. Also worth seeing is the family chapel, which is separated from the living area by an elaborately carved lattice from the late Gothic period.
The castle can only be visited on a guided tour.

Opening hours:
April – October 31 2019
Guioded tours (4 people or more):at 10.30am, 2.00 pm and 3.00pm

Top Recommendations | Val d’Isarco

Our top recommendations for Val d’Isarco:

Cantina Valle Isarco | Chiusa
Because the Valle Isarco enjoys the ideal climate for growing white grapes, the Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco specialized in the production of white wine. Thanks to the ideal climate, grapes of remarkably high quality, and flawless processing techniques the white wines from the Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco are now among the most celebrated wines produced in South Tyrol… Our modern facility at Chiusa produces about 950.000 bottles every year. The elegance and character of the wines reflect the philosophy of the Cantina and of its 135 members: Quality without compromise!

Franzensfeste Fortress
With its gigantic appearance and labyrinth of rooms, corridors and stairways, the fortress of Franzensfeste/Fortezza belongs to the most interesting fortresses in the Alpine region. This masterpiece of Austrian fortress architecture was built from 1833 to 1838 and has a varied history. 2008 it was opened to the public and since than it hosts international and local exhibitions of art, architecture and other events.

Acquarena | Bessanone
The water world Acquarena in Bressanone is the top tip for 365 days a year!
From June to September the generous outside facilities tempt visitors with several different pools. The fun pool with a 77 m long spiral slide, Jacuzzi loungers and more ensures that there is not a minute of boredom! Our smallest guests have fun in the children’s pool with many water games. Ambitious athletes practice in the Olympic sized pool with 10 lanes and diving towers. The offer is rounded off with a children’s playground, beach volleyball and beach soccer court.

The Museum of Pharmacy | Bressanone
In autumn 2002, THE MUSEUM OF PHARMACY IN BRIXEN (BRESSANONE) opened its doors to the public for the first time. Its unique collection of exhibits welcomes visitors – experts and novices alike – to an exciting journey of the history of pharmaceutical drug making. The instruments on display, including pill press machines and suppository molds, glassware, jars and packaging have all been used in our pharmacy, some of them for more than 400 years. They serve as impressive evidence of the evolution of science in a pharmaceutical context.

Brixen Bikepark | Plose
Since 2018 Brixen Bikepark is open, and mountain bikers are impressed with the flow and whistler feeling. Not without reason: After all, the whistler makers of Gravity Logic personally took manners – or excavators – in hand. The men from Gravity Logic are masters of their trade and know exactly what fun it is to whom. There are now four dream lines waiting for you.

Brixen Bikepark | Plose

How to reach the Bikepark

Since 2018 Brixen Bikepark is open, and mountain bikers are impressed with the flow and whistler feeling. Not without reason: After all, the whistler makers of Gravity Logic personally took manners – or excavators – in hand. The men from Gravity Logic are masters of their trade and know exactly what fun it is to whom. There are now four dream lines waiting for you.
All lines are within reach of the Plose gondola lift from St. Andrea/St. Andrä, starting right from the mountain station lift exit. Take the Palmschoß chairlift to return from the Jerry Line, the Hammer Line and the Palm Pro Line to the top station.

Brixen Bikepark Opening hours (until 14 October):

Jerry Line: 9 am – 4:45 pm
Hammer Line: 9 am – 4:45 pm

Prices: Cycling on the Plose | Brixen

The four Lines:
Jerry Line
Length: 4,2 km | Difference in altitude: 300 m | Average incline: 7 % | Level of difficulty: green
The Jerry Line is easy. Jerry, the creator of the line who also gave it its name, has never designed it too steep, never too rough and never to tight: It is simply ideal for beginners and kids.
Hammer Line Length:
1,9 km | Difference in altitude: 165 m | Average incline: 8,5 % | Level of difficulty: blue
Thanks to a few jumps and some nice back and forth action, the Hammer Line guarantees airtime and variety at a length of 1.9 km and 165 metres of height. This line is sensational – it is awesome fun.
Palm Pro Line Length:
2,5 km | Difference in altitude: 265 m | Average incline: 11 % | Level of difficulty: red
The Palm Pro Line is hand built from top to bottom and a dream for fans of challenging lines. The line challenges advanced riders with some features, jumps and steeper passages. The length of 2.5 km is more than impressive for a hand-built line. The Palm Pro Line is one of the most demanding lines inside Brixen Bikepark .
Sky Line (Ex Plose Single Trail)
Length: 6,6 km | Difference in altitude: 900 m | Average decline: 13 % | Level of difficulty: red
The Sky Line has the longest tradition in Brixen Bikepark. It is the oldest and also the longest line in the park. The line starts at the mountain Station of the Plose gondola lift and leads over nearly 1000 metres down to the bottom station. On the ride down into the valley, bikers have the benefit of a breathtaking panoramic view to Brixen.

The difficulty levels in the Brixen Bikepark:
Green – very easy:
