Prince’s Castle | Merano
The tour through the castle leads us on the traces of its first owner, Archduke Sigmunds, who probably had it built as a city apartment. Throughout the 16th century the castle remained a princely residence; in 1516 Emperor Maximilian I even stayed here. Over the centuries the building became increasingly dilapidated. From 1880 the castle was made accessible to the public. Today it attracts more than 20,000 visitors a year.
