Winery Pfitscher | Montagna

How to reach the Wine estate Pfitscher

The name Pfitscher has always been synonymous with a passion for making great wines. After all, we are in Montagna. Montagna is in the Bassa Atesina, and the Bassa Atesina is wine country! They couldn’t do anything else, even if they wanted to… Thanks to diligence and hard work, the exclusive family winery has positioned itself at the forefront of South Tyrolean winegrowers – with several awards and top ratings..

wines:
Sometimes capricious, even known to act like divas, but always fresh, honest and straightforward. These are our wines:

Tradition:
– Müller Thurgau „Dola“
– Pinot Bianco „Langefeld“
– Sauvignon Blanc „Saxum“
– Chardonnay „Arvum“
– Gewürztraminer „Stoass“
– Pinot Nero „Fuchsleiten“
– Lagrein „Rivus“

Superior:
– Sauvignon Blanc Riserva „Mathias“
– Gewürztraminer Riserva „Rutter“
– Pinot Nero Riserva „Matan“
– Lagrein Riserva „Griesfeld“
– Cortazo

The wine estate:
In 2011 when the Pfitschers decided to move away from the village centre of Montagna to set up a new winery, their main concern was to ensure that the premises were firmly embedded in their natural surroundings whilst retaining maximum functionality. Despite, or perhaps because of, its straight lines, the building was intended to sink into the background, leaving the stage clear for the real stars: nature, the landscape and… the wine. Simple shapes and a predominantly black colour scheme ensure that these leading actors are never out of sight. Through its enormous window facade, the tasting room offers breath-taking views of the South Tyrolean lowlands and the surrounding mountains. In the cellar, a trail of colours leads the way, ending with dark blue in the Blauburgunder (Pinot noir) cellar. Definitely a must-see!

Opening hours:

Monday – Friday 8 am – 12 am and 2 pm – 6 pm

Cantina Valle Isarco | Chiusa

How to reach the Cantina Valle Isarco

Because the Valle Isarco enjoys the ideal climate for growing white grapes, the Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco specialized in the production of white wine. Thanks to the ideal climate, grapes of remarkably high quality, and flawless processing techniques the white wines from the Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco are now among the most celebrated wines produced in South Tyrol… Our modern facility at Chiusa produces about 950.000 bottles every year. The elegance and character of the wines reflect the philosophy of the Cantina and of its 135 members: Quality without compromise!

growing areas:
The catchment area of the winery Cantina Valle Isarco ranges from the north in Neustift / Brixen via Chiusa / Sabiona into the southern Isarco Valley at altitudes between 300 and 950 metres. The geological conditions and soil characteristics are accordingly diverse.

What makes us special?
The special microclimate of this region, with hot summer days and fresh nights at vintage time, makes sure that the grapes reach maturity with a high sugar content. The light and gravelly soils, containing deal of minerals, provide these wines with strong character and incomparable typicality and elegance.
– Sylvaner
– Müller Thurgau
– Grüner Veltliner
– Kerner
– … and many other exclusive wines!

The Wine-Shop:
So here is our wine-shop, where the tasting – and purchase – of our noble wines will be a true pleasure. In the wine shop our assortment is showcased in the best possible way: the interior design is based on pleasant architectural shapes in natural materials such as wood and Bressanone granite, expressing the more typical features of an eminently wine-growing region such as Valle Isarco.

But don’t be afraid of the big choice!
Here you may taste noble nectars under the expert guidance of our enologists and obtain information about our winery, our vineyards and our wines. In the shop you will also find iPads with which to calmly and autonomously view each single wine and read about how our winery is organized.

Winery Kurtatsch | Cortaccia

How to reach the Kellerei Kurtatsch

The Kurtatsch winery is located within the most impressive locations of Italian viticulture, directly on the South Tyrolean Wine Route in the village of the same name. It is one of the oldest and smallest cellar cooperatives in South Tyrol and is one of the best wine producers in the region.

What distinguishes us?
Unique in South Tyrol and at the same time our trademark are our vineyards, which range from 220 to 900 metres above sea level on different soil types.  The very warm, steeply sloping sites on clay and gravel soils with temperatures of up to 40 degrees in summer are among the hottest places in Italy and are predestined for the production of international top red wines.
The white wine grapes grow mainly on steep calcareous soils at altitudes of up to 900 m above sea level and benefit greatly from the cooling night winds.

The young team around chairman Andreas Kofler and cellar master Othmar Doná has dedicated itself to the uncompromising pursuit of the highest quality and combines tradition with modern technology.

70% of the 190 vineyards are located in the winery’s municipal area of the same name and are managed by 190 members. This small structure guarantees craftsmanship and a high level of quality.
Flexibility in the vineyard.

Our wines:

Terrior line:
Mostly they bear the name of their location. Wines from the most promising vineyards with low yields and special territorial character. Our quality standards are so high that certain wines only come into the TERROIR bottle in counted vintages.
– Chardonnay Riserva & Cabernet S. Riserva FREIENFELD
– Gewürztraminer Riserva & Merlot Riserva BRENNTAL
– Cuvée AMOS & Merlot Cabernet SOMA
– Sauvignon KOFL
– …and many more!

Selection line:
The first selection of the Kurtatsch vineyards. Reduced yields, strictly controlled cultivation and pure varietal aging create wines of great Kurtatsch personality. Characterized by fullness and finesse. Only grapes that meet our very strict quality guidelines make it into the SELECTION bottle.

Winery San Michele | Appiano

St. Michael-Eppan winery has been creating great wines of extraordinary quality since 1907. Each vintage is cultivated in harmony with nature and the climate, in order to optimally express each individual grape variety. Work in the vineyard, the manual harvest and a modern production plant guarantee wines of the highest standard. In keeping with Alto Adige’s grand wine tradition, the St. Michael- Eppan wines all reflect their terroir through three lines: Classic Line: Made with archetypal grapes vinified in the traditional way, these wines embody freshness and genuine pleasure.
